S/S 2009 LUCENT APPAREL

The collection "Lucent Apparel" is located in the tension between the loss of privacy, in a world of increasing surveillance technologies, and fashion, which predominantly wants to create visibility and public identity for the wearer. Fashion design draws from the fascination of our society, to observe ourselves and others. The collection uses over-visibility for strategies of invisibility. The collection deals with the challenge to turn innovative technologies into wearable objects. Based on materials developed by the Swiss textile designer Noelle von Wyl, only applied in architectural contexts so far, these textiles have been used in fashion for the first time.

The projected images of biometric characteristics such as fingerprints refer to the problematic new "Culture of Hypervisibility."
